According to the World Health Organization road accidents account for in excess of a million road deaths every year with a further fifty million others being seriously injured. As a result of these appauling statitiscs, driver awareness has become a major topic in road safety.
 
Over the last few years major advances in eye tracking technology have meant that driver studies can not only be run in lab based environments but more importantly taken into the real world. Running studies in real environments with real life hazards.
 
The video below combines "real world" eye tracking with other biometric measurements that allows the researcher to not only see what the driver is looking at,  but also what effect the driving is having on the drivers vital signs.
